Terry grew up on a farm in Sumner County just outside of Wellington, KS. He attended school at a 1 room, country school house until the school closed and he was bused into town. Terry graduated from Wellington High School, and furthered his education by attending Cowley County Community College and then onto Southwestern College in Winfield.
Terry then took over the general manager position with the family farming corporation. After attending and graduating in 1982 from Reisch World Wide College of Auctioneering as one of the top in his class, Terry became the general manager of O.K. Real Estate & Auction Co. Inc. in Wellington. Terry had over 10 years of experience in that position doing auctions of all kinds and specializing in rural properties and farm machinery auctions.
Terry went on to become a member of the Wellington Fire Dept. and became the fire prevention officer. He was named Firefighter of the Year and Employee of the Year. Later he applied and was accepted in 1997 to join the Sedgwick County Fire Dept. He is currently a first class firefighter and member of the technical rescue team.
Some of Terry's best qualities are being a highly motivated, hard worker with lots of integrity and a very postive attitude. Being a team player is very important to him. Terry believes in old fashion values such as "deal so you can deal again" and "It only takes 1 day to sell a person's lifetime accumilation so you darn sure better do everything you can for them" and lastly, "Pride in your work and self satisfaction is worth as much as the commission".
Terry's family is high on his list of priorities. His wife Linda is a teacher in the Wichita school district for the last 20 years. They have 4 children between the two of them. Monica, the eldest daughter is nursing student on the Dean's honor list. Their son Derek, is also an honor student and plays basketball. Madison is an honor student and is currently the only Freshman starter for the Crusaders softball team. The youngest is Matthew who is also an honor student who enjoys baseball, soccer, football, wrestling and basketball.
